Very disappointed — I had to wait over 6 hours in the emergency department with my child, and no one updated us or showed any urgency. It’s unacceptable to leave a sick child waiting that long. The staff need to improve their communication and patient care.
A heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Every time we’ve been here, we’ve seen nothing but professionalism, kindness, and genuine care. Hospitals have to treat patients according to their medical urgency, and the team here handles that responsibility with great skill and fairness. They truly put children and families first. My daughter was here today for a procedure. She was so anxious about everything, especially the needles. Dr. Andrew Weatherall the anaesthetist introduced himself and talked to my daughter about the procedure and her fears. Explained everything to her and made her feel so comfortable. Once he was all done he went off to get things set up. My daughter right away told me how much she felt better just speaking to Dr Weatherall. This is our first time taking our daughter to the hospital, we went to Emergency department and we were so lucky, we didn’t have to wait for so long. Staffs were nice especially the middle age lady at the wait room (she has blonde hair with a bit of rainbow color) she was super lovely and helpful lady!! One of the nurses I believed her name was Sarah. She was the best medical staff I ever encountered in any Sydney hospital She was so attentive, happy to help my kid and even myself to relax. My son had surgery at westmead children hospital last week under more days treatment, when we engaged to emergency side while team works in professional with warm heart, when we moved to patient care side always met ridiculous expectations by Doctors and nurses. When doctors came in inspection for patient but wrongly got indifferent person.
