I stumbled in after a long day of travel and doing so was the best decision I made all day. The service was personal, down-to-earth, and authentic. The food was excellent, I took Heather's recommendation of the "pie of the day." It was well-seasoned and flavorful. The chips were perfectly browned and crisp. The haddock was soaked through with grease, so much so that it made the meat grey and mushy like canned tuna and mayo. It was a bummer because when you walk up to the place, you get excited. I was expecting a white, flaky, meaty piece of Atlantic haddock. What a bummer!
Scotch egg and fish and chips were top notch. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere tucked away in a quieter part of black mountain.
Exceptional all around. Very hard to find British beers. Super pies and soups.
