These reviewers must have been bribed or blackmailed. No one I have spoken to likes what has been done with the place. In 4 years I saw the old gaol go from a tourist attraction with a great cafe to a shoddy art installation with higgledy piggledy spiky palms planted around the outside. It really seems like theres no clear direction that the collection was trying to go. Theres a bunch of random statues out the front, most notably some big box letters made of rusted metal spelling "ART", I don't know where the owner got this ... read more

As we are ex prison officers my wife and I had a bit of a walk around out side knowing that the gaol was closed. Turns out we were in the right place at the right time and we happened to be at the main door when it was opened. We mentioned that we use to do and we were from WA and the young lads let us have a walk around inside. We felt very privileged to get the opportunity to have a walk around such a historic landmark. Many thanks, this will be a huge memory for us. Cheers guys.
