Interesting experience but happy overall. We booked a room with 2 queens and a sofa bed but upon arrival the sofa bed was gone! This needed up being a post-renovation change that third party websites had not updated. They did everything they could to correct the situation including reducing the room rate and comping the valet. The valet service was quick and easy to use and the location was great for the wine event we were attending! We stayed at the Berkeley for the first time because it is a short walk to Main Street Station for the Governor's Cup gala. Great choice--the room was spacious, employees friendly and helpful. When I got home and unpacked I realized I had left a raincoat and my fancy clothes in the closet and called expecting them to be gone. They had been turned in to lost and found and Noah (or Ryan?) offered to ship them to me. That's good customer service!

I had to come to Richmond for a business trip. I called several hotels (call centers for the hotels) but when I called The Berkeley, Alfreda at the front desk, answered. She was so helpful and took care of everything I needed. I was so impressed that I got an actual person, at the location, who was knowledgeable and accomodating and she knows how to take care of people. February 2026: We stayed for only 1 night (thank goodness). Nowhere on the hotel’s web site does it indicate that you will be overpaying to stay in a construction site! Not kidding! We only learned about the ongoing construction via a sign on our way to the elevators after checking in. The elevator had packing blankets hanging in it presumably to protect it from construction materials. We have stayed here many times. They have been renovating for years. Hotel check in is great Employes are friendlyand professional! Valet great. The new rooms are modern and spacious. Great restaurant accross the street, Tobacco Company Restaurant. There is a restaurant/bar on the property, they share the entrance but are not the same buisness, The Chef's Kitchen.
