CAUTION - New Management. Used to be good, but now it's another overpriced gimick. – 4 Company parties, nearly every family gathering, many birthdays (my wife and mine), 6 wedding anniversaries, and countless random nights out. The Barking Crab was my favorite place to dine anywhere in Boston. This year that all changed. Day 1 -It started on one night when we ordered our usual appetizer - calamari. We thought there was a mistake: it looked as though 3/4's were missing. The waitress explained that the new management was adver... read more

harbour view is not enough – Yes, it was a spectacular saturday afternoon, but at 3 pm I feel I avoided the rush. Found a great table with my boyfriend and sat there for thirty-five minutes, but thanks to him we at least had a cold beer, because he went to the bar. A family of four behind us asked if we had table side service because they were waiting for fifteen minutes, and I told her to try the bar. After waiting another fifteen minutes we left. I saw a lot of people as frustrated as we were, looking around for attention.

overpriced – We visited this restaurant for a low key anniversary dinner looking for some good seafood. All I wanted was some good crab legs and that I did find, although they only served 2 legs at what I considered a high price. Also it came with no side dishes what-so-ever. My husbands chicken sandwich was okay, decently priced, but not very filling as well. In addition to that the appetizer we ordered (bucket of shrimp) was again...good...but over priced for the amount of food served. I wouldn't go there again.

A small-town fish shack with picnic tables, right in the heart of downtown. – The Scene Spend an afternoon on the deck overlooking Boston Harbor with peel-and-eat shrimp, crab claws and a pitcher of beer. It's loud, raucous and everyone has to shout to be heard; yet there's a satisfied background murmur of cracking shells and loose-lipped chowder slurps that you might not indulge inside. The indoor dining room is only slightly quieter and just as casual. Live bands entertain crowds almost daily. The Food Choices are classic ... read more

Not sure what the big deal is. – Decided to have lunch at the Barking crab with my family (my husband and two children, 6yrs and 9yrs old) after visiting the Children's museum. We thought the meals were over priced for one thing and the wait staff were average. Nothing special to say about this place.

enjoyable place! – As tourists to Boston attending a medical conference in June, 2005, we tried as many restaurants as we could during our four day stay in the city. We also had our 4 year old twins in tow, so we were able to test the "family friendliness" of each place we dined. I got the bucket of shrimp. They were inconsistent. Maybe they are hard to cook evenly? An individual shrimp would taste great, then the next one I'd eat would almost be unappetizing. The kids' meal was outstanding. My wife's meal was excellent. A g... read more

A picnic on the water The Barking Crab is located just over the bridge on the way to the World Trade Center and the Fleet Pavilion. Its worth the stop in even on a rainy day. The restaurant features a large covered deck with picnic benches that are perfect for large groups. The food is fantastic, if not a bit over priced. But where else can you get a bucket of crab legs in lobster country? They have live entertainment and a fun staff who is attentive. Great for watching the sun go down then heading to a show.
