THE BITE IS AS WORSE AS THE BARK – Great location... outside on the water.. hard to park , but pleasant once in for that "clam shack " experience. That is where it ends. The food is expensive and poorly made. The oyster po boy has just a few oysters and the roll is so hard and stale that the oysters go shooting out the back with the first bite. The fries are probably the worst in Boston. Preseasoned , cold , potato logs that should be thrown to the fish , but they probably would not touch them . The lobster and crab prices a... read more

Terrible Service – Went with my wife, her mother, and wife's 9 year-old niece. 3 of the dishes came 30 minutes after ordering (burger, fish sandwich - nothing that takes more than 10 minutes). Last meal (for the 9 year old) came 10 minutes later. Pregnant wife wanted a medium burger. Received it blood-red rare. Health risk for child! Getting the 3 adult meals before the child's, we were left with 2 bad options - (1) eat the food now and teach the child bad manners. (2) don't eat the food, teach good manners, but choke it dow... read more

CHANGES MUST BE MADE – In the past two or so months this place has turned upside down. Me and allllllll my friends used to come in once or twice a week because of what a great place the Crab WAS! The staff is great and always really friendly staff to everyone... never heard any complaints. The food usually awesome but the whole vibe has been destroyed!!!! We always always always used to visit the crab in the winter time because of how much we loved it but a $19 dollar pitch of beer, a $10 dollar dixie cup mixed drink... a 21... read more

Smelly and poorly cooked crab, and crappy service – I would NOT recommend anyone to go to Barking Crab. The Dungeness crab we ordered had a smelly claw and overall looked and smelled NOT fresh. Even worse, inside of the crab that came after 20+ minute wait, was still ice cold on some portion, which I guess must have been frozen when shipped to Baring Crab. We asked for our waitress and told her about it and she simply took it away, no expression. We thought that at least a sign of being sorry was proper if this place has som... read more

Tourista..... – This place is nothing but a tourist trap... ! "Overpricing" is the fundemental concept at this once "cool" clam shack on Ft Point Channel. I cant understand why CITY SEARCH has it at $$.. It should be more like $$$ as 90% of the menu items I was interested in, were in the $21-$40 range. Their entree portions here are not even worthy of "small plate" status and lets face it, if I'm going to pay $21 for tiny piece of fish over horribly overcooked rice, at least cook the fish. And no, it wasnt a piece of tuna if... read more

Barking Crab Bites! – I would choose no stars if I could. I sent the following by way of email to the GM of the Barking Crab and of course it bounced right back to me: dear general manager of the barking crab, last night i brought my girlfriend and several of her friends to the bar area of your restaurant for my girlfriend's birthday. i teach spin classes at the south station BSC and also brought several people from the class along for a beer after the class. once we found a table in the bar area i stepped up to get a pitche... read more

What Happened? – All I really have to say is this place once had an extremely unique feel, all it's own... Those days are long gone evidently. It appears new management (and maybe ownership) has taken over because there was nary a familiar place the last time I paid a visit... yes, the beer was still warm but even more pricey ( I also noticed prices went up across the board after they expanded to a full bar... ) $11 for a mixed drink in an 8oz plastic cup! Are you kidding? While the fried food still lived up to my expectatio... read more

Another Management change... MORE bad news for the Barking Crab – I can not even begin to explain the horrible turn that this once familiar and very friendly place has taken. As a long time customer of the Barking Crab I have to say that the changes I have seen over the past few weeks have turned me off completely. I will never again be a patron at the Barking Crab. The prices have gone up even higher than they already were for warm beer, and a mixed drink in a small plastic cup is $10.00 You can get a better deal at Fenway ... read more
