BEST GYM I EVER BEEN TO BY FAR. Increase my bench by over 100 pounds over last year training here.
I've been taking my 15 year old son here to train for America's Strongest Teen. Chris and Kalvin are Amazing! They have a wealth of knowledge and experience and their way of training is thorough and educational. My son says that he has learned things here that he had already given up on trying. We probably pass over twenty other gyms on our way there and it is So Worth It.
I waited to give a review because I wanted it to be genuine and based on my actual experience. I’ve been training at The Bar since January, and it has been a truly great experience. I don’t come from a CrossFit or weightlifting background—this is my first time joining a powerlifting gym—but I honestly doubt I could find a better place. Just wrapped up a workout at Bar and Jim in West/East Dundee and I had to say something—this place is the real deal. The energy was right, the coaching was hands-on without being overbearing, and you can tell they actually care about what they’re doing. It didn’t feel like one of those cookie-cutter workouts at all. I got pushed in a good way, but never felt lost or out of place. Really glad I found this gym after recently moving from Indy. They have everything I need to train Olympic weightlifting and also have competition-grade equipment which is cool to see. I've seen powerlifters use the specialty equipment, I'm not too familiar with them, but this gym has it. Everyone has been welcoming and friendly, and being open 24/7 is a huge bonus. I'm looking forward to many more training sessions here.
