French looking pastries are very disappointing. Custard taste is off, flaky layers are soggy. Should have tried the baklavas instead.
Average food unfortunately, I was disappointed several times by the food and the cakes to the point where I decided to write this review. I wanted to like this place because there are not too many European food places in midtown. The people working there are nice, spinach pie is very good but the cakes are super sweet, creamy and heavy.
Had a croissant and fruit tart. Croissant was very meh, clearly bought from a supplier and not fresh. Reminiscent of Costco. I ate the tart later and there was so much thick glaze on it, I think it was Karo syrup or something. Way too sweet and not good. There’s seating in the back, including a shelf of books to read. And you should read, because there’s no cell reception back there. It wasn’t too busy on a Tuesday afternoon. Staff was prompt and courteous but sadly it just wasn’t worth nearly $20.
