My husband received 8 weeks of intensive treatment from The Aphasia Center. His language improved across all four language domains. The treatment and care he received and the care partner training I received has helped him tremendously in his ability to communicate despite ongoing severe receptive aphasia. I worked on getting him treatment here almost a year. It was completely worth it. The Aphasia Center works!!!! They are all caring, compassionate, and truly know how to improve communication ability!!!
This is a review for the six week intensive aphasia therapy, which is two hours a week via zoom for six weeks. Firstly the aphasia centre is a very efficient and professional organization, very well run. The director has a PhD relevant to aphasia and is the first to assess what is needed. Our son Ben has a great experience here. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere, but they get stuff done! Very positive experience and one we hope to repeat! Progress with aphasia is a life changer. Thanks to all the therapist, and especially Ben's primary, Megan, and Dr Lori of course!
My husband started the 4 week intensive program in St. Petersburg in June, 2023. After the 1st day he said "This might work". Following a stroke in November 2022 he participated in outpatient speech therapy but he wanted more than the 45 min sessions 2Xweek that we were able to get in Chicago. My husband did an intensive hybrid 6 week program with The Aphasia Center after having a stroke that left him with severe expressive Aphasia. Everyone there was wonderful and helped him identify strategies that help him to communicate. They helped us to understand how to help him as well. He continues to work with the therapists there online. We are so grateful we found them.
