Thai Star is set in a compact space but is high on flavors. The counter wall is chock-a-block with photos while the remaining walls are adorned with decorative art pieces. Lampshades cast a warm glow to the eatery. During lunch hours it gets very busy, so try to drop in earlier. Using only fresh ingredients, their aim to stay true to the cuisine has earned them several fans. Various curries will vie for your attention. These include the usual popular ones and unusual sauces like peanut curry, ginger curry and pineapple curry... read more

HORRIBLE! I am incredibly disappointed with our service. The food is not real Thai food, the chicken was undercooked and the pad Thai had the sauce of stroganoff! I told them I didn't like my chicken satay and the waitress didn't offer me anything different, just took my plate away. When I received my bill I saw that it was still on there. I asked why I was still being charged even after only taking 2 bites of food. She kept running back to the kitchen who I assumed was the owner. She then said i could have $2 ofd my food. This is one of my favorite restaurants, you get a big portion of food, plus soup and egg roll. The spice is just right and the service is great! try it!
Yikes! People think this is GOOD Thai? – I went to this restaurant based upon the positive reviews on here... on citysearch... foregoing others closer to my hotel. I am so sorry I did. I don't know where the previous reviewers have eaten Thai before, but if they think this is good, we're all in trouble. I've had sorry thai food before, but not so sorry that I didn't even finish it. My Tom Kha was made with standard american white mushrooms, which I could have handled if the broth wasn't water and milk with a splash of coconu... read more
Best deal in Town – I am a long time customer at Thai Star and I always recommend it to everyone I know. In addition to solo visits, we often have group get togethers for dinner and often meet for special occasions. The food is excellent in quality, quantity, and price. Everything on the menu (soup, spring rolls, and entrees) is made from scratch and is authentic Thai cuisine. There are minor variations in the food from visit to visit which is due to 'made from scratch', but I have never been disappointed with any food and t... read more
Real Thai Food – Without a doubt the food prepared at Thai Star is authentic Thai cuisine. The proprietor undoubtedly hails from Thailand.I have been dining at Thai Star for a number of years now and really haven't any complaints. Sure on some visits the service is a little slow when it's busy but it's understandable in any restaurant. I really don't understand the difficulty with the previous reviewer. The hot and sour soup is definately made from scratch. So are the Spring rolls. During my prior visits, while waiting for my... read more
Horrible service – I don't know whether these other reviewers have had other Thai food, but this place is mediocre at BEST. We ordered carry out, and arrived to pick it up 5 minutes AFTER the quoted time, and STILL had to wait 15 minutes to get our food, and then it WASN'T EVEN HOT!!! The "gentleman" behind the counter charged us more than the menu price on each item, then after giving us several explanations, said it was because it was the dinner price, and not the lunch (even though we were there before WAY before the lunc... read more
Great Food! – The best Hot & Sour Soup and Spring Rolls I've been able to find in the Metro area. The staff has always been friendly, quick and efficient, the food is always outstanding! The restaurant is certainly humble looking, but the food is worthy to be served in a palace. The lunch rush is a bit hectic, take-out is VERY busy and you might end up waiting a few minutes if dining in, calling ahead for a take-out order is certainly recommended. Word of caution: only order hot & extra hot (spice level) if you are a true ch... read more
Great Food – I visit this resaurant three times a week. The soup and spring rolls are excellent. The entree is better than the soup and spring rolls. A bit of a wait if you arrive during the peak lunch hour, but there is a reason for the croud...the food is awesome! Friendly, hard working wait staff. The decor displays some authentic Thai artwork. Would have never guessed it from the buildings outside appearance.
Excellent Value for the Buck – My job takes me all around SE Michigan. I eat at restaurants five days a week and 75% are of Asian cuisine. I have been patronizing Thai Star ,once or twice a month for over seven years. I have tried everything on the menu. The portion sizes are quite generous with plenty of meat in them . Spring roll and a cup of soup(Hot & sour or Tom Yum) is included with the entree. In the cooler months hot tea is complimentary(although it is self serve). My personal favorite dish is "Gan Keow Wan"or sweet ... read more
