Totally worth it! – I find it interesting that a previous reviewer fusses that Thai Orchid is not authentic but then goes on to fuss because they aren't adventurous. Ummm, which is it??? I've tried many Thai restaurants in town and Thai Orchid is consistently the best, specifically concerning the taste and quality of the dishes. Good Thai Food – We went here on a Saturday night, and it was not crowded at all. Got seated right away, and had ample time to order. The selection was good and a lot of items can be made vegetarian as well. The chicken was tender and coconut curry was amazing. Service was prompt, and food was fast and hot. I do reccomend this little gem in south Charlotte.
pretty sad... – Not even close to authentic.To know the pride the people in Thailand take in their food and how directly related to quality of life it is, I can honestly say they should be ashamed. Very unadventurous, but I suppose the people who continue to eat there are to blame for that as well, for god sakes order something other than Pad Thai. Oh, and just because it comes out in a flamming dish doesnt mean its authentic.
Avoid this restaurant altogether – The most rude staff I have ever encountered!! My main entree was the Curry Duck and the hair was still attached to the skin. I was appauled and went to ask if I could speak to the manager....when I told her the problem she looked confused! I asked if she could take the Curry Duck off the bill. After I went to my table she arrived and told me that I ordered it so, I need to pay for it and slammed the bill down and walked away abruptly. Best Thai Food in Charlotte – Well, if you have any taste buds or know anything about authentic Thai food you would certainly go here. I have been to every Thai restaurant in Charlotte and Matthews; this is by far the best. Thai Orchid is rated in the Top 10 in restaurants in Charlotte and the food is excellent. Will Not Go Back – This is the first Thai restaurant my fiance and I have tried in Charlotte. We were very disappointed with the food. The pad thai sauce tasted like ketchup and was lumpy. It had been sitting for hours because a big chunk of it formed into a rounded corner of a pan--this chunk was hidden under some loose noodles in the presentation of the dish.
