delicious Amazing coffee served with a side of great service and a very lively neighborhood atmosphere!
Fresh ingredients & friendly service – We love Thai Linda. You can really tell that all of the ingredients are fresh and of high quality. The vegetables, in particular, are beautifully cooked--their flavors and textures come through well. An excellent place for vegetarians, too. The veggie dumplings and veggie wonton soup are awesome! The service is always attentive and kind. They do get backed up for takeout sometimes--I think because Roscoe Village is short on good takeout places--but it's worth being patient for.
You are expected to pay for uncooked and greasy food with a touch of bad attitude – I just came out from the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I went with 2 of my friends to Thai "Linda" Cafe. First we ordered crab rangoon, there was only celery and cream cheese rangoon then actually crab. Then we ordered sweet and sour chicken, eggplant and sweet basil with Pine nuts and schrimp, and finally Pad thai with beef. Meal 1: As soon as she put the chicken in her mouth, she had to through it back out, disgusted. It wasn... read more
User review by EmilyDwarf – a great neighborhood byob. i wouldn't travel long distances (or across town) to eat here, but it has great curry and outdoor seating.
A Thai Food Snob's Delight I consider myself to be somewhat of a Thai food snob -- my parents took me to my first Thai restaurant when I was only seven years old, so I've had a long time in training. I have a few favorite Thai restaurants scattered throughout the country, and Thai Linda tops my list.
Not Your Typical Thai – Arun's notwithstanding, Thai Linda is a neighborhood Thai restaurant that is heads above similar places in town. Tofu satay--grilled with a delicious and savory marinade--and vegatarian dumplings are unique appetizers you won't find at most places, and certainly not done so well. Beef or shrimp with Basil is delicious. Most dishes are much more delicately spiced and complex in comparison to the more well-known north side and downtown moderately-priced spots.
Staple Thai – I have been here a few times and feel this is the standard in which other Thai places need to beat. The curry dishes are really, REALLY good. The Pad Thai is not super duper, but if it's what you like, then you shouldn't be disappointed. Get some Jasmine tea and make the meal complete. It's in a good location to start the night in Roscoe Village.
Calling all Thai Lovers – Thai Linda has become one of my standbys for Thai food. The dishes are excellent (especially their curries) and reasonably priced. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. This is a small, neighborhood restaurant that always delivers a good meal.
