Despite being totally free and packed today, the museum is an amazing place with something for everyone with a mind for learning and curiosity! their paleontology gallery is partially closed which is a bummer but i can't wait to see it after the renovations in Jan 2026! The education staff are amazing and go above and beyond to make sure everyone, as much as is reasonable, has a unique and fulfilling experience and learns things that the *visitor* is interested in! super reasonably priced gift shop, too!
I enjoyed the color/fashion temporary exhibit on the top floor, but overall this museum was a bit disappointing. If you have kids I think they might enjoy it. It is much much smaller than the name would imply. I actually think changing the name and maybe focusing more narrowly on one or two topics would enhance the experience. Calling it the Texas Science and Natural History Museum makes visitors think about other Science and Natural History Museums which are generally much larger. Went on the free sunday, way too packed and loud. Got grid locked in the parking lot on the way out. Wouldnt recommend it. Better off googling history with images than this exhibit
