I worked here for almost 4 years to help educate hospitals and the public about donation, and while most of the staff was very caring, the treatment of hospital nurses by one of our TOSA nurses in particular was horrendous. She almost got banned from one of the hospitals we worked with, but thankfully, I heard she is no longer working there. Donation can be very healing for a donor family but it is also an incredibly stressful time, therefore miscommunication and lack of empathy can take its toll. I have just wrapped up the most horrendous experience of my life. My son was brain damaged and on life support for over two weeks. The hospital started pushing me to unplug him on day 3, even though he was breathing on his own I won't go into all the horrors there because this review is about TOSA.. My son died on his own, I didn't have to choose thank God. I knew I wanted to donate his organs, I have family members who have needed organs. However, I was not prepared for the onslaught.
