I was canvassing in the area for a nonprofit and stopped in to use the bathroom and buy a drink. The man working the counter assumed I was homeless (I was just sweaty because it was 90 degrees outside?) and was immediately standoffish. I asked if there was a restroom and he said “yes” then just stared at me. When I asked where it was located he asked me where I lived, as if I was doing something wrong.
