I must be missing something I always hear raves of Tex and Shirley's. I've tried them on several occasions, and I've never been satisfied with my meal. The food isn't great, although it isn't terrible either. I usually go when I have a coupon or there is a special and the kids can eat pancakes for a great price. The service has never been very good when I've been there either, so maybe I'm just going to Tex and Shirley's on the wrong days at the wrong time. Great pancakes Tex & Shirley's has great pancakes. Wednesday's are great because is all you can eat for $2.49 and children can share your plate. The staff is usually pretty friendly - nice family atmosphere.
What is the hype about? I get really surprised when I hear friends that recommend this place. Our family has tried it twice (for breakfast) and we have left disappointed both times. I couldn't put enough salt on the eggs and grits to make them have any taste. The pancakes were decent, but everything else (breakfast food) wasn't anything to write home about. We have found other places that have a much better breakfast. I hear people like this place , so maybe we were just unlucky both times??
Pretty Good I actually worked at Tex & Shirley's about 5 years ago. The pancakes are awesome! I really loved the ones with coconut and pineapple! The omelets are extremely good because they are so light and fluffy.. The setting is a little on the older side which gives it charm. In the morning is when you'll get your best service. The waitresses have been there for decades and know the in's and out's of the store.. I recommend this place highly if you are in the mood for some great pancakes.. YUMMY!
