I was with TCF for about 9 years when I decided to leave them. Why, you ask? Because they suddenly enacted a $9.99/mo. fee to my checking account because it did not have direct deposit (and I COULDN'T GET direct deposit because I get paid mostly in cash). Fast forward a few years, and now all of a sudden, TCF is advertising that they have FREE CHECKING... with captions like 'No, seriously!'
