A nice spot, albeit a bit cramped at the bar seats when the place is busy. Bright lighting, open layout. A wide selection of pastries and a fairly interesting menu for something more hearty. The shakshouka was excellent. Someone in my party was a vegetarian and a pastry that did not have any meat label did taste very strongly of meat — but other dishes were clearly labelled with dietary restrictions.
The coffee here is mediocre, but the breakfast sandwich was good. What was alarming to me was how a couple of employees racially profiled an African American customer today. I witnessed him place an order before me. The guy was marveling at the kitchen when he was interrupted by a Latina employee who asked him for his receipt, as if he was going to steal food from the counter. This behavior is unacceptable. I will never eat at this location again.
Awesome food but very surly staff. We were three people - asked for three plates - she brought one and made a face. Then she brought two cutlery packets. Other person also not friendly. Cashier was unsmiling. But food was totally worth it.
Be careful ordering online takeout with them. If an item you order is not in stock, they won't tell you. Instead they'll charge you for it and put a receipt in your takeout bag saying they don't have it in stock. Not sure why they think it's ok to by-default charge people for items they can't deliver. But in order to catch it, you have to notice an item is missing and then call them to ask for a refund.
