5 big stars for Cathy, who guided me through all of Tap's 10 Bay Area stores in pursuit of nearly 300 lbs. of a specialized polymer product. While her San Rafael store had a good chunk of what we needed, without her knowledge of the entire Tap inventory structure I would have been out of luck. Terrific customer service, something I've frequently had at Tap but never take for granted!
The person I spoke with did not seem able to restrain themselves from answering the question they think I should have asked instead of the one I actually asked. An unfortunately common code of engagement in 2025 predicated on an unfulfilled need for validation and approval, and manifested as frantically trying to control the conversation by adopting an artificially “superior” posture.
