Had dinner here last night. All the rolls were incredible and super creative and not traditional. They have an extensive sake menu and beer selection. Moving from the Bay area a few years ago I'm not that stoked about restaurants up here especially asian but this is the best sushi I've had in years. Top notch. Can't wait to do the Omakase on Fri or Sat night the sample menu looks amazing

Absolutely love this place, and can't believe I only found out about it a month ago! For those who, like me, need nigiri to survive: the chalkboard of available fresh fish is the center of attention, and indeed the fish available is SO good (on my recent visits, the butterfish and hamachi were particularly good — and the sake is the best in town, though that is not tough competition if you know how strangely mediocre salmon nigiri/sashimi is in the area). We had a wonderful date night Omakase at TANUKI’s DEN! It was fresh, flavorful and quite unique to Humboldt County. We tried the sparkling sake and it was effervescently delightful. The green lipped mussel sauce on the Bluefin was a particular highlight for me, and my husband loved “cooking” the Wagyu beef on the hot stones! The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting as well. All in all, it was a 10/10 and I can’t wait until we return.
