About this business

Takashi owned by Takashi Inoue is a Japanese Korean barbecue restaurant that serves only beef. Thin rib-eye, beef tongues and other delicious meat are brought to the table and grilled over a slow fire at the table itself. There is a black sheet to prevent the atmosphere from being too smokey. Experience this novel barbecue dinner with glasses of cold sake. The appetizers consist of calf's brain, stomach and bone-marrow; truly meant for the adventurous diner.

Fantastic service, the menu is definitely not for the faint of heart (or wallet), but I'd rather have a modest portion of incredible quality than a big piece of average quality meat. The decor is among the most unique in NYC, and the food is unparalleled. Favorites were the harami (skirt steak) and niku-uni (sea urchin topped on chuck flap). Run, don't walk to Takashi!

Don't! – Do not go there! There are plenty of places around it that server much more food, are cheaper, and have better service. Actually any place with service will have a better service than here. We went to eat there on a Fri night and were told that we'll have a table in 45 mins tops. An hour and 40 mins later we were still given the run-around. When we were finally sitted, it took a while for the service to bring the measly meat. But it took them a second at the end to bring a check that was surprisingly different from ... read more

Citysearch Editorial Review – Notable chiefly for its menu of uncommon cuts--grilled Achilles tendon, anyone?--this Japanese all-beef restaurant is also charming and intimate.

A Great Find – BBQ your meat right at the table. It's simple, quick and delicious. If you weren't hungry, the smell wafting from the grille will certainly change that. The menu is full of exotic choices, all of which were worth the try, even if it took guts (pun intended) to overcome my trepidation. If you don't try the rib-eye, then you've missed a culinary delight. The help was friendly and attentive. Provided the Mayor doesn't outlaw meat next, this place is a keeper.
