Not my favorite – Wasn't the best experience.
Under New Ownership/Much Improved! – Takara is good, and much better than the old sushi boat that used to be at this location. For about $45, we had 7 sushi plates, beer and a large sake. I like that stuff comes fast on the boat, and the fish is fresh. I would like it if they had more raw selections (less california rolls and cooked stuff) but they had a few. Not even 1 star for this place! – I can't even give this place 1 star. My boyfriend and I ate dinner here last Saturday night and it was just AWFUL. The worst sushi I have ever eaten. Anyone who thinks the Sushi here is acceptable, just simply doesn't know Sushi. We ordered sashimi (a combo of tuna, salmon, and yellow tail, served on daikon radish) and a few different sushi rolls. Worst sushi I ever tried – I went to this place the last couple of days. The first time I was extremely disapointed with the service, value, food, everything really. I decided to give it a second chance, regretfully. I tried ordering something else, but it was awful, both times I went there the food wasn't fresh, or tasty. The service is ok, but I highly recomend going to a different place if you want quality sushi. It is way too much money for what they pull together.
is the wait worth it? – Is the wait worth it for this restaurant? Well, the answer is 'yes'! The sushi was very fresh and tasty. Service could have been a tad better. Otherwise, this neighborhood restaurant seems to have held up very well.
Lots of fun in the tatami room – This is a fun place to come either for sushi fresh-of-the-boats on the conveyor belt - or you can do what we did. We had a great party in the tatami room for 10 people. Lots of fresh fish and great cooked dishes like chicken teriyaki and the like.
Excellent lunch special! – Isobune on College is an excellent place to grab a quick and fun lunch. It offers a fantastic lunch special that includes miso soup, salad, five pieces of tempura, grilled salmon, chicken teriyaki, and 4 pieces of assorted sushi. It's all for $7.95! Plus, the restaurant has a sushi boat bar to sit at and ponder all the many types of sushi that go round, or tables if you prefer more privacy. The first time I went to Isobune was over two years ago, and I still go back almost every other week.
