Really Enjoy The Food carnal! – I enjoy their food here. Lots of mouth watering flavor and I like the super fast way they get the food out to you, without feeling hurried. More accurately, I think I should say that the food comes out in successions, at the perfect timing.
Good Sushi, Good Atmosphere – Takara is VERY GOOD. The ambiance is nice, and the Sushi is EXCELLENT. Tied with Mobo for our favorite sushi place. Both are highly recommended. Bravo!
Great Food – Not only does this place have good food but they are quick with their service, friendly, great for the whole family and very clean. My kids love sushi and this place is affordable. I don't but they have chicken- and its great. Try the place.
Not impressed I lived up the street from Takara, so my wife and I have walked here a few times. I don't know why we even bother going hetre because this place is not very good. It's not bad, but you'd expect more with the kind of prices they're charging. Also, Takara had a sign up saying that they're open late on Fridays and Saturday. So, some friends of ours from San Diego came up to visit and they got into town late (around 8:45 pm). At around 9pm, we walked to Takara and got there in less than 5 minutes. HAPPY HOUR! – Go for a good happy hour nosh. Get edemame and some crispy gyoza or some california rolls and a beer. If you do that you can have a tasty adventure for under 10 bucks! my borther use them for catering and has been verry happy with their results. I would say you cant go wrong here. Unless you hate the fact that this place is in the mall parking lot... yeah.
Best Japanese in Town – Admittedly, it's been awhile but I'm willing to wager that Takara is still the best Japanese in Santa Cruz. Unfortunately, the new location leaves a lot to be desired. The Capitola Mall -- what were they thinking? In any event, the service is still first rate and the food continues to please.
