They do great work. My daughter loves attending and has shown immense improvement in her reading skills.
My 3rd grader was struggling with reading and passing the IREAD test. She was down to her last 2 tries to retake it before getting held back a grade. I enrolled her into the sylvan program because of all the good reviews. One thing I must say is that I do not regret it one bit, best decision I could of made for my baby. My child doesn’t get the full hour that we pay for. They’re seated by start time which is on the hour, but then placed in the waiting room 56 minutes after the hour. What about the other 4 minutes? Or if they have a double session they give them a break in between. I’m not paying for breaks I’m paying for a full hour of tutoring for a certain subject but not receiving the full hour. READ THE FINE PRINT!! THEY CHEAT YOU OUT OF THE MONEY PAID FOR SERVICES THEY DIDNT EVEN GIVE.. THEY PROMISE TO REFUND THE MONEY BACK FOR UNUSED HOURS THEN SAY WE ARE GOING TO ATTACH AN ADD25% FEE.. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A PLACE THATS SUPPOSED TO HELP KIDS BUT IN ACTUALITY IS MONEY HUNGRY! AND GET YOU TO SIGN ON UNDER FALSE PRETENCES! THEY DONT WMEVEN RESPOND BACK IN A TIMELY MANNER! THEY DELEGATE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO SOMEONE LOWER IN MANAGEMENT WHO CANT EVEN EXPLAIN WHATS GOING ON... THE MERRILLVILLE SITE IS HORRIBLE!!!
I am more than impressed with our time at Sylvan thus far. My daughter has been to roughly 6-8 sessions and when coming in she was reading at a kindergarten level in 2nd grade. She HATED reading, wanted nothing to do with it, despised it, and even said she was afraid of reading. When walking into her session last night, she sat there and read an entire paragraph that was on the wall about food and drinks!! She would have never even attempted before attending Sylvan.
