My son attended Sylan for almost a year. He was very shy in the public school district and would not let the teachers know when he didn’t understand. The class was moving along and he was falling behind. We decided to take him out of public school and trust Sylvan with one on one teaching. We have used Sylvan for both my daughter and more recently for my son, here in Gulfport. The staff is very attentive and well suited to serve the students they educate. My son had a great experience over the last 18mo+ and has really grasped the reading concepts the instructors provided. We have seen improvements in his grades and everyday comprehension. My honors senior flunked his midterm in an advanced math he was taking for dual credit. The course was online, administered through a local community college, with virtually no personal support or lectures. I called Sylvan in my area, and they found the most suitable tutor -- a professor with the Gulfport branch, teaching in a local college now, and he had taught from the same textbook previously at a major state university. We have attended Sylvan for the past year and it has been nothing but amazing. All of the staff has worked with my very active ADHD child to help him learn. They picked up where the local school system was failing him. They made learning fun for him again and when he had to go for tutoring it was always referred to as "fun school". The staff, the expertise, the communication, hands down the BEST experience for my 16 year old daughter! She has always struggled comprehension and studying skills. Sylvan has targeted what she needs and provides group and individual lessons to help her achieve her goals and more! This is the first year she has maintained above average/average grades and typically a D student. I can NOT say enough good things about Sylvan. If your child is struggling, please contact them! It’s worth it!!!
