A 3 only because it's been decades. I've learned so much since. His only concern was pushing birth control on me at 15. When my A1Cs were high he said I should do more exercise. I was up to 3 hours per day. Rebounding constantly. I hope he's learned better. He and other doctors like him have led to my complications. I hope they all have learned better since the 90s. Do your research!
If you’re unable to travel outside of the area then he is one of your two options and worth a try. If you’re able to travel to another city then I recommend looking elsewhere, particularly if your case is more complex. Pros: (1) I was able to get an appointment in less than 2 months, which was faster than anywhere else. (2) I was seen within 30 minutes of arriving at the office.
