Three years ago my wife and I were looking at whether to buy a secondhand yacht or consider a yacht share with Sydney by Sail. I signed up to join Sydney By Sail at Hamilton Island Race Week. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. Excellent experience from start to finish. Aaron and Iwan were a perfect blend of professionalism and fun, and I learned heaps from them every day. They managed to pull off a few podium finishes and an overall series 2nd! I will be signing up to do the race week again next year if they’ll have me and I’ll be sure to go through Sydney By Sail for future courses or if I want to sail down in Sydney. What a wonderful way to see Sydney's harbour, bays and some of its top sights such as the Opera House and Harbour Bridge from a different perspective. Ollie was a great captain and offered to let us take the helm... but we preferred to relax and watch the scenery go by enjoying a blue sky day with gentle winds. Thank you!
I’ve just spent 8 days (6 racing) sailing in the Hamilton Island Race week on Ratbag one or SBS boats. A motley crew of 10 of us who’d never met were guided and instructed by Arron and Iwan. We all had the most amazing time and won, bronze, silver & gold on three race days and silver overall in the none spinnaker class. What a fantastic team and what a trip. Great leadership from the SBS team to turn us into a great crew. Loved every minute. Already booked for 2026 😁.
I usually avoid doing reviews but this sailing school is so exceptional I just had to come sing its praises. Highly professional, patient, safe, and best of all fun. From very first contact a warm welcome and nothing too much trouble. I have travelled interstate to join them on 3 courses, and most recently Hamilton Island Race Week with the incredible Aaron Chadwick and Iwan Roberts. Such a fabulous friendly team. Thank you!
