Sword Inn Bancroft is a few buildings to accommodate. Decent size property. Rooms are as they pictured. Some reviews speak of a smell, there is a smell of the room being closed/sheddish; we used air freshner. Thank you for the clean beds, quiet space, everything works - shower, hair dryer, electricity and charging points, air conditioning, microwave, refrigerator and iron. Just got back from a covet mission in Middle East. Canoe down York River and ended up just Me and my guide and bodyguard Mr Yousef with a backpack, docking on the bank of the river behind the Sword, a lovely atmosphere here. Couldn't afford a room so we pitching a tent along the river, behind the Sword. What more can I say?

Very disappointed. My mom had to cancel her reservation due to her mother passing away. She had planned to book later in the month. But not now after them telling her she still will have to pay for one night. Nope, not happening. Told her to visit a different town.

Made an error booking and staff were not only understanding but helped us book a new room. Room was clean and well maintained. Had fridge, iron, coffee maker, microwave, shower, tub (jacuzzi)...so many great conveniences. Indoor pool was great. We didn't use them, but the hotel does include a sauna and gym. Shower pressure was amazing. Tub plug was a little fiddly for me personally, but got it going in the end. Batteries in the remote were dead, but that wasn't a big deal. Can't wait to visit again! Thanks for the memories!
