food depiration dates If you are looking for great deals on food, it is a good place to shop. Some of the food is "expired" but it is still good to eat. I found a website that explains food expiration dates that was very helpful: http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/food_expiration_dates.asp I just wish they had longer hours
Look for Deals! This is a place for deal hunters. It sells close-out food for close-out prices and always has a plentiful selection. Be sure to look for expiration dates and don't be afraid to dig under already open boxes to see if there is newer product underneath. They also sell their own bulk food that's reasonably priced, fresh, and also has an unbelievable selection. Don't be put off by its appearance. It's definitely worth the hunt, especially now when money is tight.
I keep going back Manufacturer's close-outs, close coded items, weird food that didn't make it in mainstream market...you never know what you are going to find at Swann's. They have a huge bulk section with all kinds of health food, nuts, grains, pasta, etc. Check the dates...I have gotten food that tasted a little old. But I keep going back because overall it's worth the risk and I have gotten tons of great deals. I just wish they had longer hours.
Throw that list out the window I think this place is great. I am a small family on a budget and shopping at chain grocery stories is not always the cheapest. I have found many name brand groceries here such as lean cusine and breyers yogurt and even Mot's juices. The prices are discounted because the box may be dented or advertising on the box is from a past campaign. You can not go in there with a list or expectations but rather with on open mind and willingness for a surprise. I feed my family on lots of there food product... read more
NO NO NO Stay away from this place unless all you want is paper towels or nothing edible. I once saw a sign above the yogurt, which was all at least a week past it's due date, that basically said that it was still good to sell. According to who???
