Spent an amazing time with Charlie at the bar.
Some pieces tasted noticeably "fishy," which is a hard thing to overlook at a sushi spot, and service dragged more than it should have. It wasn't a bad meal, but "not bad" is about as high as I'd go. The bigger issue is value. Both Zen Sushi Omakase and Thirteen Water serve more food, higher quality, and at a lower price—so it's tough to justify coming here when better options exist for less. Even a Sugarfish order from your couch would beat the experience. Not terrible, but not worth the trip. I'd point you elsewhere.

We were at Sake Con the week before and someone recommended this as their go-to for traditional sushi. We all know there's a glut of omakase spots in NYC and we've tried a few. They were good, but this is the first time I felt genuinely transported. Yes, it's the old Scarr's Pizza space, but the transformation is remarkable.
