Don’t believe the hype. The fact that this place was crowded makes you wonder if anyone in there has ever had omakase before. The service was indifferent and condescending. If you’re gonna have that kind of attitude you better BRING IT with the food. They didn’t. The sashimi octopus was so tough with a strange flavor-basically inedible. The chilled avocado soup (watered down guacamole) was actually awful. Waiter was surly. Major let down and also costs an arm and a leg.
I ordered the omakase special. The fish itself was fresh, high quality, and well-cut, but the preparation lacked the creativity and effort I expect from an omakase. Most of the courses felt very similar to what I would receive from a standard sushi order. Afterward, I ordered several à la carte pieces, including some of the same fish served during the omakase, and they were completely different.
