Absolutely loved living in their Wrightwood Ave building, it’s an amazing location close by lots of stores, restaurants, and parks! The common areas are routinely cleaned and nicely maintained. Management is very communicative and easy to reach/ willing to work with tenants for their needs. Would definitely recommend leasing through Surf!
In the two years that I have rented with Surf Development I found them very responsive to my needs and requests. My apartment on 4000 N Kenmore was in good conditioned and well maintained and was a happy home for two years.
RUN!!! The building I lived in off of Wrightwood would have been great if it weren’t for the people running it and poorly taking care of it. Surf is full of people are especially rude and demeaning. Mary talks down to not only her tenants, but the way she speaks down to the maintenance staff as well is horrible. There are bugs all over the building, and any maintenance issues, while fixed, are fixed to the bare minimum. Worst landlord I've ever had (out of ~10), highly suspicious of the high reviews here. I have high credit, a high paying job, and have received compliments from previous landlords. Surf Development were consistently unprofessional, unhelpful, and unethical. Lived in Wrigleyville in one of their units. They had the health department called on them for the massive rat problem exacerbated by fruit bearing tree and vines that were not maintained. Lived with Surf for 3 years, everything was great. Responsive, quick with maintenance requests, friendly. Would definitely recommend!
