I recently had superior auto install a block heater in my van but because they couldn't find a block heater that fit my van they instead installed a 100W silicone heating pad which was totally inadequate for the weather we experience here. the block heater they/I wanted to install was a 600 watt block heater so clearly the 100w silicone pad which is on the outside of the oil pan wouldn't be adequate. My husband and I just moved here. We purchased an older truck for a second vehicle. After owning the truck a couple of days it wouldn't start.
