Severely understaffed. Wait times are dangerously ridiculous. The few staff they do have are lovely but very overworked.

I visited SCUH ED on the 23rd Feb with an extremely bad back injury. I could not sit, I could not lay down I had to stand as any other way would cause agonising pain. 2 hrs in and I asked the reception desk politely what was the waiting time frame and she spat back at me “unfortunately you’ve only been waiting 2 hours, others have been here for 4hrs so you need to wait a while longer still” she smiled and rolled her eyes while I just stared at her with tears down my face while I’m in pain. The nurses where so beautiful, caring and so helpful, the dr a young girl called Amy was so nice, reassuring and caring, and made a bad situation not feel as bad and wanted to get me pain free, she is going to be a amazing doctor when fully qualified, thank you Amy for Monday 24th November from patient with supposed broken steel rod in spine.

We have had a few emergencies over the years and no matter how busy the ER has been the level of of professionalism and care has been excellent. I wish there were more stars I could select
