In addition to being a beautiful place. what I noticed most when I toured Sunrise was that the staff and residents were happy, which means a lot. When my mother went into Sunrise from a rehab center, she couldn’t even stand on her own without falling. After only a month, she is walking now with a walker and doesn’t need her wheelchair except for when she is really tired. The staff at sunrise of Alexandria are like family to each other and to the residents, and also to the family of the residents. My mother is a resident of the memory care facility and she has been treated with a lot of care, respect and patience. I don’t worry about her safety whatsoever and she has many opportunities of socialize, which makes her happy. As a seasoned home health nurse, I have been to more Assisted Livings in NOVA area than I can count. I can tell you this is hands down my favorite, for many reasons. First, it’s small community which gives it s more “home like” feeling which is so important when someone is transitioning from their home to an assisted living environment.
