This is a perfect example of how protective "clear" coat isn't all that clear... Modern clearcoat has a lot of ultraviolet screeners and many other chemicals that promote longevity/ the net result is that it is NOT completely "clear"! It is the most obvious on silver and whites but it also has to do with thickness. Some technicians when spraying, over apply clear coat for any number of reasons which then results in this type of tonal difference.
