In 1946, a young pharmacist named Dr. Hong-yen Hsu established the Sun Ten Pharmaceutical Company in Taiwan. The company was a research facility devoted to the study of Chinese medicine. Sun Ten broke new ground in operating standards earning the first Good Manufacturing Practice recognition award ever awarded to a Chinese herbal medicine manufacturer.
