They send you a “past due” email on the same day as the payment appears on the account. Literally the moment the amount payable appears online it’s already “past due”. Really bad online payment system.

I called to dispute an extra charge for a bill that had already been paid. I made it clear that not only did I have an emailed receipt of payment from Sun Prairie Utilities for this bill, I also had a bank statement confirming the amount paid out from my account. The person I talked to immediately became so flustered and defensive over the phone that they wouldn’t listen to what I was saying and kept talking circles around the issue. Absolutely No Compassion or Customer Care Dealing with Sun Prairie Utilities has been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had. They do not care if you're a loyal customer, going through financial hardship, or just need a little support. If you’re low on income or struggling, don’t expect even an ounce of understanding or flexibility from them. It's a good thing SP Utilities has a Monopoly on our market, otherwise they would have NO business. Every month I receive a bill with a due date roughly 3-4 weeks out. The very next day I will receive a past due notice saying that my bill needs to be paid within 10 business days or it will be disconnected. No where on the first bill is there anything about anything being "past due" or previous months charges.
