I never imagined that one of the most difficult times in my life would become even more stressful because of my disability insurance. I'm very disappointed with Sunlife . I've paid so much money for my supplemental policies. I've submitted so many claims during time in need ranging from hospital confinement, critical illness, accident claims. Takes very long to respond with automatic denials.
I had to take 3 months fmla due to the stress of the loss of my brother and father back to back. This company never communicated with me on what was necessary for their approval of claims. Never responded to emails or calls. I filed all paper work as my doctor did the same. They finally paid me 2/3 rds of what they owed me 2 and a half months after I filed and was off work. I had my short and long-term disability through Sun Life Financial while working at a Ford Dealership for over 5 years. I changed jobs for less than a year and returned to my Ford job in August or September 2007. My back was hurting worse than normal so I saw some doctors and in December 2007 I had my first appointment with a neurosurgeon.
