I had my short and long-term disability through Sun Life Financial while working at a Ford Dealership for over 5 years. I changed jobs for less than a year and returned to my Ford job in August or September 2007. My back was hurting worse than normal so I saw some doctors and in December 2007 I had my first appointment with a neurosurgeon. This company has denied two claims that I submitted. This company takes a long time to review claims just to come back with a denial. My husband was critically ill and was hospitalized for days. This company says his illness was not considered payable because of the type stroke he had. I submitted an accident claim afterwards. They denied it saying because he had an illness, the accident claim could not pay. Which is it, an illness or accident. By far the worst insurance company to deal with. You pay them but when it's time to use the insurance benefit. They absolutely take their time. I had surgery 8 weeks ago I was to receive 5 short term disability checks I have gotten 2. It's been 8 weeks I have paid hundreds in late fees and had to borrow money when I shouldn't have had to. I'm dropping them next open enrollment. Worst insurance company I've ever seen
Absolutely horrible insurance, don't waste your time and money on it ,been out of work going on 2 months and all they do is give you the run around and can never get your case worker to call you back ,further more I've had to resubmit the same documents 5 times already and they still give you the run around, save the money and go with a better company...
