Sumiya specializes in Japanese style grilled skewers, called 'Yakitori'. Chicken thighs and brest tenders are just the beginning. All other parts of chicken like wings, gizzards, hearts, and liver are grilled on top of special charcoals called "Binchotan". If chicken is not your favorites, don't worry. Sumiya's favorites extend to beef, pork, duck, seafoods, and vegetables as well. Also, please make sure to check our 'Today's Specials' section in the menu for very unique selection of small dishes and skewers.

check the check! Word to the wise if you're a drinker...check the bill! It's easy to get carried away especially after a few drinks and sake. The dishes end up piling up because the food is so good. A bit of a rip off for the chopped up carrots and cucumbers - $6 and they're just served raw! We came here and the waitresses tagged on over $100 onto our bill. Not sure if it was an honest mistake or someone was trying to pull a fast one on us. Nonetheless, great food!
Great neighborhood restaurant--wish it was in OUR neighborhood! This gem is tucked away in a strip mall near Lawrence Expressway and 280. I love it for several reasons: Number 1, the food is great. Cooked to order yakitori (grilled skewers) in a variety of flavors: chicken, beef, seafood, and vegetables. Number 2, they're open late--till 11:30 Mon-Sat, 9:30 on Sundays. Number 3, they have a good selection of Japanese sakes. You can even buy it by the bottle & consume it over multiple visits. It always seems to be busy (no su... read more
grilled squid & cartilage - yummy! You gotta love meats on sticks! This yakitori restaurant has tons of yummy small plates but it's easy to get carried away with ordering a bunch of dishes. Order some rice if you don't plan on spending too much money. Otherwise, you'll still be hungry to order so much more goodness!
