I fell off a shear cliff that had about 200 feet of vertical drop to rocks below -- I wouldn't have survived, but I snagged on a treeroot about 8 feet down. Had to stay there until rescued about 30 minutes later (my spouse called 911). I've always had trouble with heights, and being forced to stay there and look down w/nothing under me was incredibly terrifying.
