I'm never really sure where the problem is with Suburban Propane (local office or the HQ in New Jersey). I installed a whole house generator in ~2012. I had a tank on the property that was about 10 years old. They claimed it was out of date and that they would have to bring in a new tank - it turned-out to be manufactured in the 1960's (lie #1). Luckily, my electric coop has a very good 'uptime' record and we rarely lose power. That means that we don't use much propane and that's where the problem starts. I believe the probl... read more

If I could give less than one star I would! Literally the absolute worst company to deal with. For the past two years I have asked them to stop auto delivery, as I planned to switch companies due to SP’s horrendous customer service and ridiculous pricing. Was down to the last 2 gallons of propane and came home today to a filled tank and a $275 bill! I have the emails proving I’ve requested the auto delivery be removed. This is the exact reason I wanted my tank to run out and go to another company. Absolutely ridiculous.

Customer service is not good. We have had several times when SP was going to research something for us and they said they would call back. Guess what .....they never call you back! Also, they deliver gas and, if you are not home, you never know it. They do not leave a note or send an email or text to let you know they were at your home, how much gas they delivered, what the bill is, etc. I paid the most recent bill just to be done with SP. Thank goodness we are moving.

We were without propane for two weeks (in the middle of winter) and wanted to become a new Suburban Propane customer. We signed the contracts and scheduled a day (friday) for tank/line inspection and fill-up. Inspection took place early on the scheduled day and were expecting fill-up later, but that didn't happen. Driver was a no-show. Making it worse, we didn't receive any communication saying that the delivery wasn't possible and would be re-scheduled. I emailed the person who helped me get signed up and scheduled the fill... read more
