Rude, uninterested in patient questions. I called hospital patient advocate and got a new doctor. I truly believe that if I had followed his advice I would have been admitted to hospital for his wrong diagnosis and drug selection.
My experience with Dr. Smalheiser has been great. He explains things, listens and treats me like I have a brain, which isn't always common in the medical profession. Highly recommended
Pleasant medical visit (PCP referral) today with Dr. Stuart Smalheiser. He and his staff were friendly, efficient, understanding & accommodating. Highly recommend him & his practice.
I was admitted to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for Syncope and Vasovagal. He visited my room in the morning while I was in the restroom. I told him to wait a minute, and I'll be out in a second. He got impatient and proceeded to scream, "Okay, you need to get out now, I have things to do!" I have never been so appalled at a "professional" blatantly disrespecting and belittling me. He is so rude and sorely lacks bedside manners! Stay away from this man!

It was perfect… Dr S. Is very friendly, informative and professional. If I e ER had a heart issue I would trust him completely and so should all of you negative Nellies!!!
My 85 year-old mother and I saw Dr. Smalheiser once, but will not go back. Every time my mother asked him a question, he looked at me and answered, referring to "her" and "she." It was like my mother was not even in the room. She was already feeling depressed because of her health issues, but Dr. Smalheiser made her feel like a non-person.
Desperately wish I would have read the reviews before my visit. Everyone was right, he’s extremely condescending and rude. He makes you feel like a waste of his time if it’s not an open and shut case. Refused to answer questions, it’s his way or the highway. I felt like I was being belittled by an employer. It was bizarre.
While Dr. Smalheiser is knowledgeable, he very much lacks people skills. My father (who is in his early 50s) went to see Dr. Smalheiser and whilst discussing my dad’s test results Dr. Smalheiser joked that my dad’s heart was a “widow-maker”, while my mom was also in the room with him. He continued to crack jokes that made my parents both very uncomfortable. He was very judgmental towards my parents and didn’t seem notice his inappropriate behavior. My parents didn’t laugh and even tried to stir the conversation away from ... read more
