I was admitted to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for evaluation. He visited my room in the morning while I was in the restroom. I told him to wait a minute, and that I'll be out in a second. He got impatient and proceeded to scream, "Okay, you need to get out now, I have things to do!" I have never been so appalled at a "professional" blatantly disrespecting and belittling me.
While Dr. Smalheiser is knowledgeable, he very much lacks people skills. My father (who is in his early 50s) went to see Dr. Smalheiser and whilst discussing my dad’s test results Dr. Smalheiser joked that my dad’s heart was a “widow-maker”, while my mom was also in the room with him. He continued to crack jokes that made my parents both very uncomfortable. He was very judgmental towards my parents and didn’t seem notice his inappropriate behavior.
