Great Fried Chicken While comfort food is not my thing, Stroud's is the one place I will go to for a home-style meal. Be prepared to loosen your belt after you eat their Chicken Fried Chicken. Prices are cheap and the sides aren't too bad, either.
take the whole family Stroud's is a great place to go with your whole family for a huge down-home fried chicken meal. They serve everything family style, so be prepared to take home leftovers. The chicken is amazing, and they have good fish too. Make sure you order extra cinnamon rolls - they are amazing!
Stroud's I thought the service was excellent and the food was very good. I'm not a big fried food fan, but I would go back if only for the mashed potatoes and cinnamon rolls.
Dry, Bland and Expensive I was visiting KC and wanted to go to one of my old all time favorite restaurants (Strouds). It had always been pricey for a chicken shack, but the chicken had in days of yore been good enough to justify it. This however was not a good experience. On top of service issues (slow and uncooperative), that are not worth discussing more than that, the food was as others have said (And to my surprise) pretty poor. Stroud's South Restaurant is delectable! We just went here a couple of weeks ago for my birthday. I've been to other Stroud's locations, but this was my first time here. It was much nicer and newer than some locations which was a plus. The food was the same delectable home style cuisine as the original locations. Of course if you are new to Stroud's you have to try their famous pan fried chicken, it is to die for! Try to save room for their hot, yummy cinnamon rolls too, if you can!
Worth the wait! Everyone rejoiced that Strouds picked a easy-to-get-to location for their re-opened 2nd restaurant. Then rejoiced again that it was bigger and had more parking! But now that just means more people will stay in line to get the best fried chicken around!
