Although we live in Madison, we travel to Hartselle to take our birds here. Dr. Jan has given nothing but the best of care to our birds for both routine and emergency situations - patient, knowledgeable, and compassionate.

I took my miniature dachshund to this clinic because I was concerned about an occasional cough. They put him on his back (you can NOT do that to this breed of dog) for an x ray and injured him. He walked in that day, but limped out. The next day was the last time he walked. These people DO NOT care about your furbabies. It is completely unacceptable to take a pet in for something VERY MINOR, then for that pet to leave with a MAJOR crippling injury. I was so impressed with her. She's gentle, personable, and so knowledgeable. Office staff were super too. I have a second hand Amazon parrot, and her former owner made me promise to take her to "Dr. Jan." Even though it's a good drive for me, it is worth it.

There was lots of available parking at their office. I was glad that I didn't have to drive around looking for parking. Unlike other veterinarians I've been too, I have never seen them appear overwhelmed by too many pets. They are extremely organized and make sure the vet has plenty of time to see each patient for as long as necessary. They've stayed open past their closing times many times when I've needed help.
