Safe Space is an alternative to arriving at an emergency department. Guests to the space have choice and control over the supports they would like to engage in whilst visiting, including guided sensory and calming activities to help reduce distress. Peer workers can provide support to review or create a safety plan, problem-solve and connect guests with other services.

I have been visiting this space coming up to 2 years now and they have immensely supported me through my recovery journey. Initially I thought I had to rely on hospitals, treating teams and ‘home away from home’ youth stays…until I heard of Safe Space. Just a simple chat with one of the peer workers opened a window of hope for me. If you’re feeling stuck and hopelessly down, this is the place to visit. I have been regularly visits to this place, it has helped me more in the past 4 months with mental health then I have received from the hospitals over past 38 years, I can truely say that Safe Space has saved my life, I would not be here with the constant support from these wonderful people, yes there are a couple peer workers I was not comfortable with but I never gave up and I regularly connect with the main 4 peer workers I confide in, if you ever visit this place all I can say is try talking to most of them and I truthfu... read more
