We recently celebrated a 50th birthday with a group of 12 us at Stoker doing a hand building workshop. We elected to make mugs (we had the option of vases also and some of us inadvertently ended up with ramen bowls when our mugs became a little ambitious in size). A school holiday session at Stoker Studio was really great for my six year old grandson today. He made a pinch pot, glazed it & will collect it from the Studio in approx 4 weeks. The facilitator, Paige, gave excellent instructions & was very helpful to all the children. A fabulous experience on a very wet day! My turn next!

I did a beginner wheel course at Stoker about 4 years ago, then I came back in February this year for another 6-week wheel course. I returned with no expectations but was very pleasantly surprised to discover that I remembered what I was doing! Mel was a fab teacher, very patient and explained things beautifully ... I have since enrolled in an intermediate wheel course with Andrew, who is an absolute master. I am the most beginner-y of the class, but everyone is very supportive and encouraging. Just did a teapot making class. I (and others) found it very rushed and therefore quite stressful, not too enjoyable. Also the teacher didn’t possess the skills to stop other participants talking on top of her making it impossible to hear instructions and therefore making the experience even more stressful. This class needs another hour added on and some rules at the start. I was also disappointed to learn we don’t get to come back to glaze our own pieces or even choose the colour which I didn’t get told upon booking. Upon p... read more
