In new construction, wiring is installed before walls and floors are finished. In existing homes, electricians have to work to get power to the right locations. Wires are often run in crawl spaces, attics, and basements, but it’s called “fishing” when they’re run behind finished walls.

Were you aware that a screensaver actually does not save you energy? If there are any pictures being displayed on the screen at all, the computer is using the exact same energy when it is operating normally.

You know that electrical work is not easy, and it’s not something that is always safe. Why, then, would you take on an electric project without hiring a professional with the skills to do the job the right way?

If you are investing in an electrical upgrade, it’s recommended that you plan for future needs. One possible solution may be to invest in a structured wiring system, where all of your wiring is run through a central panel. This allows you to control everything from security, audio, and video, to lighting, telephone, and even your HVAC system.

Distribution utilities deliver the power carried by your transmission lines that we construct to homes, businesses and other consumers over separate networks of smaller distribution power lines. The trip from the power plant to that outlet happens at almost 186,000 miles per second.

Were you aware that setting your desktop or laptop to go into sleep mode after 15 minutes of non-use can greatly reduce the amount of energy it uses on a daily basis? When in this mode, most computers will only use between 0 and 6 watts, compared to 250 watts when left constantly ready.

Did you know that screen savers don’t save electricity? When your screen saver is running, you are using the same amount of power as when you are actively working. Change your settings to put your monitor to sleep when you’re away from your desk for ten minutes.

Not sure whether you need to upgrade your electrical panel for your home? This depends on whether it can still provide ample power. If you have built a large addition or installed central air, for instance, then it may be time to upgrade.

The term “to bid a project” means to invite a certain number of qualified contractors to submit a total cost for your project. When all the bids are in, they are gone through to evaluate the cost and qualifications, and the client selects the contractor they determine best for their project.
