I recently had some home AC issues. I called a repair guy and he said the motor was bad and it would cost 675$ to repair which included labor. I thought this sounded outrageous. I decided to try to replace the capacitor first, but to no avail, same issue. Refusing to pay 675$, I decided to take my motor(with fan and lid attached) to Stevens to have them test it. Called today(6/27/11) to get help on a broken air conditioner motor, and was told to come right in. They reviewed my broken one, and found a replacement for it. "Then", they made sure that the new one rotated in the proper direction, clipped off unnecessary wires and made sure the shaft for the fan blade was the same length as the old one, and gave me all the advice I would need. "All" the employees went out of their way to help me, and then only charged me $97.00 for the new motor, when I had been quoted by a repair company... read more
