Dr. Speth operated on my spine more than several times. My spine had been operated on several times with mixed results before Dr. Sperh . The first time I went to see him I spent a month in the hospital in Bozeman as the spinal injuries I had suffered in several at-sea accidents while in the U. S. Navy had left me in constant pain and in low mental disposition because of the length of time I had suffered. I now refer to Dr. Speth as “the miracle worker.” In that month in the Bozeman hospital Dr. Smith operated on my back num... read more
On my office visit to Dr. Speth he told me 3 times I would not 'make it' through the surgery. He said the incision was this long as he opened his arms wide. My back is not that long I thought. I left in tears and was afraid to have anyone do the surgery.
i would not let him operate on my horse. what a joke.
Wanted to fuse my back for a herniated disc at the age of 17 while otherwise in great physical health. Pushed very hard for me to accept that not bending at the waist or being able to tie my own shoes would be my new reality. Got a second opinion at Shriners in Spokane and the doctor laughed at that recommendation and performed a microdiscectomy. Since have fully recovered and very thankful I didn’t take his advice. Able to weight lift, backpack, run, etc. now.Looks like this is advice he gives commonly from other reviews.
Dr Speth wanted to fuse my back clear up the base of my head. I asked for a certain surgeon to assist. He turned sideways and stretched his full height while saying that the surgeon had to be in good shape to do a back surgery. I went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN instead. I was very happy with the results.
Dr. Speth operated on my spine twice and I am very pleased. He did excellent work, he insists his patients receive the best possible care by hospital staff. He is very careful to only operate when it is necessary. I found his bedside manner to be quite pleasant. I would recommend Dr. Speth.
When I needed my back fused to stop the horrible pain, Dr. Speth gave me a 50% chance of survival. Also, he stretched his full length and said that the surgeon has to be in good shape to do the surgery. (I asked him whether or not the neurosurgeon who assisted Dr. Sorini when he was alive could assist with this surgery.} I had the surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. The surgery went well.
I would not recommend due to my family member having sepsis (hospital acquired) missed by him and her dying 23 days postop after being put on 3 antibiotics and 2 blood pressure medications to help her survive. He then had the nerve to say it was her fault because she made him do the surgery.
Dr Speth listens well, explains your options, has a sense of humor, and makes sure his patient is well cared for by the hospital staff. He is knowledgeable does a good job.
